I have been spending a fair amount of time recently pulling email I want to read from the spam folder, even emails sent to me from my own contact form.
Today while pulling an email from the spam folder I was greeted with this message.
This appears to be something newly implemented as Forrester Research were recently talking about problems with filtering.
There also seems to be lots of talk about an offline version of Gmail coming soon, but so far nothing substantial in the rumour mill.

it’s about time! those spams are filling up my gmail. there are more and more coming in each day, something should be done quick before users decide for a change.

You’re certainly not alone, Andy. Perhaps every two days I pull a legitimate email from my Gmail spam folder, which means I have to constantly check it.
Add that to the spam folder in WordPress and the time spent quickly builds.

Exactly. That’s why I asked the question in the first place.
For me, it’s a difficult choice between ending false positives
and privacy. I tend towards giving the emails, but haven’t
decided yet.
The spam filters really acts very weirdly.
I forward my emails regarding comments to my blog to my gmail account and I’ve been receiving emails to my inbox folder all the time.
Then just yesterday I opened up my wordpress dashboard and saw a comment awaiting moderation but just couldn’t find the email in my inbox.
Lo and Behold, the email was in the spam folder. Then, subsequently, the rest of the emails then came into the inbox even before I identify the previous one to not be spam
GMail absolutely need to copy gmx.net and add a daily warning with the title&author of every spam. This way I can see every morning every spam title on my inbox (I’m using Thunderbird) and I don’t worry that much if some false positive as been caught because I can see it immediately and I have just to go and get it from the spam box.
