I know this is an older post, but I was surfing around trying to dig up some info on how Google felt about membership groups like StomperNet and PortalFeeder and my search led me here.

The bottom line to these programs is helping build links to member sites (I know the offer other good stuff too).  I love the concept, but something tells me Google frowns on this.

It would be easy for Google to join, discover the members and then penalize them.  Any thoughts on why they don&#039;t (seem to)?  Is that they don&#039;t feel this is spammy -- more cooperative?
