31 Niche Websites In March

March is almost upon us, and for many it is a time for spring cleaning.

It is also traditionally when new life is brought into the world, so it is an ideal time to clean up some niche websites and turn some ideas into revenue streams and to experiment a little.

I am frequently asked by email all kinds of beginners questions

  • How to choose a niche?
  • How to go about keyword research?
  • How to promote niche websites?

I am going to steal some quotes from Franck

Taking about John Reese and Blogrush

    1. Release crap (improve later, but start making money with your crap) 2. Test everything

Niche Marketing Opportunities – Wikirage & SquidWho

This is one of those days when an opportunity falls right in your lap, and you wonder whether you should really write about it and keep the information to yourself.

Then again I am one of those caring people who really does like to provide some useful information.

First of all Seth Godin launched a new aspect to Squidoo today, SquidWho - meant to be like a who's Who section of Squidoo, but effectively you are building a Squidoo page with a slightly different template and is effectively like building a fan page, with the income meant to go to

Trackback Spider Review

What Does Trackback Spider Do?

From what I have read on the pre-release materials, it sends trackback notifications to create one-way links to your website.

That means:-

  • You are not being referenced on the site sending the trackback

Watering The Plants, Digging Holes & Housekeeping

Offline situations can have quite a devastating effect on your blogging, and whilst a lot of my niche sites run on autopilot, that is a lot more difficult for this site.
If I was going to be travelling for some time it would be possible to hand over the reigns to a possible guest author, or to publish some content with a forward timestamp, but because this blog is intended to be a community site, where I interact with my audience, if there is going to be a short delay in my publishing schedule, I tend to take the less complicated route… so be it.

AuctionAds Review – AuctionAds Partially Solves Two International Affiliate Problems

AuctionAds

Shoemoney Media and Mediawhiz (The parent company of Text Link Ads and ReviewMe) have released an innovative new monetization model, based upon Ebay Auctions – AuctionAds.com

Mainstream media will no doubt not even think let alone write about the 2 core advantages of this system for a large segment of the affiliate marketplace.

Usuggest – Limited Inventory

Mashable have just mentioned Usuggest as a possible revenue stream for bloggers. From what I can see they have a very limited inventory.

As an example I did a quick search for “Diabetes” – a massive marketplace and loads of products… or there should be.

Google following meta redirects

I have previously documented how I moved my old blog from http://niche-website.blogspot.com to this domain http://andybeard.eu

It is fairly well documented that if you move a website, you should use 301 redirects to retain your old link equity.
This isn’t possible with blogspot hosted blogs, and it was thought that meta refresh might transfer visitors, but not link equity.

Tagging and page views

A few days ago on my Wordpress Plugins site, I updated to Wordpress 2.04 (from 1.5.2) and switched to using UTW for tagging rather than Taggerati.

Taggerati and UTW have slightly different functionality. 2.04 is supported by both, but Taggerati isn’t really being updated. I am going to miss a couple of the inline tags I could use when posting using a desktop application, but longterm support I hope is more likely with UTW.

Google Reader, Splogs, Linkblogs, Blog Readership

But the Google reader has major flaws, which noone is really talking about. In fact I have noticed a growing tendancy for reporting thee flaws as a cool feature, without any emphasis on the negative aspects of using these "featues".

Pageflakes updated – new look for the Web 2.0 Ajax Desktop

As an example lets look at Alexa Whilst on the surface it looks like Netvibes are way out in front of their competitors (and in some ways they are), the other services are much younger. Pageflakes (and friends) is catching up with Netvibes, having similar traffic (as per Alexa) to where Netvibes were 6 months ago.

I have currently removed any referral links for Domain Dashboard.

Investing in your online business

This week I have been investing in a few bits and pieces which should hopefully reap some good rewards.

With so many offers flying around, major launches by big names, and a host of smaller offerings it is often hard to decide what is a good choice.
