I use Gmail for email, and it catches most spam.
I do however monitor my spam folder carefully because a few useful emails such as my contact form results and Spam Karma Reports sometimes end up there.
Wikiseek seems to be the hottest news of the day but honestly it is just a poor mashup of the Wikipedia database, a poor quality search engine, and some PPC adverts. Whilst Wikiseek has launched in a huge fanfare, and admittedly is still in beta, my personal opinion is that Wikipedia are taking the wrong direction.
I love how his blog post ends
If Yahoo/MyBlogLog is reading this, these tools would be great to implement as a part MyBlogLog. All we ask is for 1% of your acquisition price or a free trip to Yahoo headquarters.
My opinion – this method of gaming MyBlogLog is useless and pointless. SoloSeo has gained some nice linkbait from the article, but very few new community members. It is a bit like Jason Calacanis and his gaming Alexa experiment. Sure it can be done, but what is really the point?
It is interesting looking at the acquisition coverage for MyBlogLog.
First of all Techmeme gets it partially right, that one of the original sources for the sale was Forbes.
If you expand all the related coverage, it is a shame the announcement on the MyBlogLog Blog doesn’t seem to have been cited anywhere near as many times.
You have a hot story, you write it as fast as you can, and hit the publish button, only to notice that there is an error in the post.
Your blogging software has already notified Feedburner, and most likely Feedburner have already picked up your feed, and using their Pingshot feature, have already notified lots of sites to come and index your feed or site.
In some way it is a shame as I believe PayPerPost could have steered metrics into something exceptional.
I will still most likely use it more, but only if I can host the open source application myself without providing it as a service. I wouldn’t want to use a service that is hosted by a “bunch of SEOs” i.e. potential competitors.
Am I an antisocial member of MyBlogLog?
Contacts in MyBlogLog
Adding someone as a contact in MyBlogLog does 2 major things
1. It sends them an email message
2. It allows your contact information to be viewable by them
