Typepad AntiSpam

I have switched Spam Karma off... temporarily, to test Typepad's new Antispam plugin As is well known I am not a huge fan of collective intelligence as the sole arbiter of whether a comment is "spam or ham", and long term I am most likely to switch back to Spam Karma, possibly using Typepad Antispam as an additional filter. I am also going to grab the code from Igor so I can test Typepad Antispam in conjunction with his Project Honeypot though I think that too is best served as a Spam Karma filter/plugin with probably a high threshold. Typepad Antispam was quite easy to set up

Declaring Akismet Bankruptcy

I have simply had enough of leaving what I feel are worthy contributions to the discussion on blogs using the Akismet plugin for comment spam, only for the comments not to appear, or worse, seeing pingbacks from the 100s of blogs that scrape my RSS feeds, but not my own pingbacks appearing.

Akismet False Positives & Spam Karma Configuration

Spam Karma for me is the most effective comment and trackback spam management solution because it doesn’t cause me problems with false positives on many blogs where I comment on a regular basis.
As a blogger, it is a huge time saver by sending me email notifications a few times per day if it finds entries that are “possible” good comments and trackbacks, but which tripped up one or more of the various algorithms it uses.
