No One Reads Your Terms of Service

Unless you stick terms of service directly in front of people, and make important points extremely bold, people are not going to read them.

This was the whole point of a little experiment I helped Paul with over the last week, and the results are extremely conclusive. It is partially to do with the Krak.dk story I have written about in the past, but I think the results also paint a much broader picture.

Can You Really Take Search Engine and Technology News Seriously?

Krak

There is currently a case running in the Danish courts that will effectively decide the law in Denmark for linking to a page other than a home page, typically known as deep linking.
We are not talking about hot-linking, pulling an image or video off someone else’s server into the middle of your own content, but linking as you might to this blog article, using the permalink.

Podcast with Irish Attitude

If you are someone who likes to listen to podcasts on blogging and tech issues, you might like to give Paul’s new podcast a try.

It is “down to earth” rather than full of hype (as you would expect from an Irishman), and my first impressions of it are very good (and that is not because I got a mention in the first episode).

Did I Link to a Dmoz Editor?

Unlike most SEO concious people, I didn’t submit this site to Dmoz. I just decided that if it was going to happen, it would happen. A while back I did apply to be a Dmoz editor for a very off the beaten track section (that was being heavily abused and where I could add a lot of value), but I gave up trying to get my application accepted.

Toolbar Pagerank | Ball Linking

Google have finally updated their toolbar pagerank for this site, not just on the front page, but also a lot of the deeper pages. Not all of them – some of those devoid of pagerank should probably have some, others probably shouldn’t especially moved content that hasn’t been given enough love.

Linking Strategy – Link to Feeds

Feedburner Squeeze Page

Mike Sansone in a recent comment over on his blog, after I gave a tagging example of [a href="http://www.converstations.com" rel="tag"]Blog Coach[/a] in his comments, replied

Can I start using “generous genius” when I point to your site?
