Google Double or Indented Listings

Whilst I gain tons of Google indented listings for money terms, and I can achieve them quite often in minutes, rather than days, they are almost always achieved using a few simple steps.
  • Get one page indexed and ranking
  • Write a second post linking to the first (which will also then trackback to the second page)
  • Use the same primary keyword in both posts
The second method I use, for topics that get frequent mentions, are tags.
  • My post with the highest number of links on a topic will most likely rank well
  • My tag page which leads to further posts on the topic will form the secondary listing

Open Web Awards 2007 – Winners

The Winners of the Open Web Awards have been announced.

Due to my moving and connectivity problems I wasn't able to promote the voting phases but I did vote on the judges choice awards - it is interesting how voting differed between the two.

Open Web Awards – Call for Nominations

Open Web AwardsThe Open Web Awards are now open for nominations until the 6th December, and this stage of the proceeding is quite open plan. The current 28 blogging partners (increasing daily) have been provided with a list of categories to accept nominations for, and it is down to each blog to decide how to proceed with collecting nominations, whether to make individual posts for each category, or to handle things from a single post. Voting will take place in a much more refined manner.
  1. Mainstream and Large Scale Networks
  2. Applications and Widgets
  3. Social News and Social Bookmarking
  4. Social Search
  5. Sports and Fitness
  6. Photo Sharing
  7. Video Sharing
  8. Start Pages
  9. Places and Events
  10. Music
  11. Social Shopping
  12. Mobile
  13. Niche and Miscellaneous Social Networks
As I loosely focus on niche marketing, with an emphasis on Wordpress, Blogging and SEO I am hoping that we can get some nominations for some of the more niche players.

Open Web Awards

In the past I have praised Mashable for being open-minded in their reporting of Web 2.0 News, and whilst they do dabble in provocative titles once in a while, coverage is unbiased.

That is why I was pleased to accept playing a role in both promoting and judging their Open Web Awards, though full details are not yet available of exactly what that will entail.

Google Reader | FeedBurner Stats Show Significant Market Share – Google Reader Now #1?

Until yesterday, the only statistics available for the Google Reader user base was based upon site traffic, and to a lesser extent click-throughs from Google Reader (although that data doesn’t tell you from whose feed currently).

MyBlogLog Acquisition Coverage

It is interesting looking at the acquisition coverage for MyBlogLog.

First of all Techmeme gets it partially right, that one of the original sources for the sale was Forbes.

If you expand all the related coverage, it is a shame the announcement on the MyBlogLog Blog doesn’t seem to have been cited anywhere near as many times.
