Social Power Linking Now Only $29.95

JackBack in August I reviewed Jack's Social Power Linking Home Study Course which he created with Peter Lenkefi I claim it as a review, even though I hadn't actually seen the product. I had one major problem with it which wouldn't have worried many of my readers, but was a significant problem for me - it was a physical product.

MyBlogLog Ian Kennedy Interviewed

A few weeks ago the Collective Thoughts team got together and compiled a bunch of tough questions we didn't expect to get all the answers for.

Almost without exception Ian Kennedy, MBL Product Manager has provided detailed answers

If you are a fan of MBL you will find some interesting stats, and some things to look forward to in the near future.

Here is an extra little titbit.

Google's Toolbar currently regards my MBL profile as more valuable content than my blog, and the same is true for my Blogcatalog profile.

Whilst the true value Google places on my site can't be

Social Power Linking Review

There is only one small detail that prevents me from immediately whipping out my credit card in the next 30 seconds and buying Social Power Linking, but for many people that small detail is actually the primary reason they would make a purchase.

Its Not The Quality Of The Product

I have experienced some of Jacks training in the past, and it is always phenomenal, he gives so much valuable information and presents it in a way that is easy for anyone to understand. I have absolutely no doubt that Social Power Linking will be no exception to the rule.

It Is Not

Sphinn Support – Antisocial (SEO Friendly Sociable) Wordpress Plugin

I have just added support for Sphinn to my hacked version of the popular Sociable plugin.

For those unfamiliar with Antisocial, these are the differences

  • All links have nofollow added – this might sound strange coming from someone who strongly supports the removal of nofollow from comments, but there is no logical purpose having a followable link to a social bookmark site that just points to a submission form

MyBlogLog vs Blogcatalog – Differentiation

Rose seems to think that Blogcatalog is just a MyBlogLog clone. I have just spent about 2 hours drawing up a list of the current differences between each service, that I believe is able demonstration that both services are being developed by a team that truly want to differentiate their offerings, though sometimes there is some healthy competitive overlap.

Sphinn – SEM Attention Wars

Having just come back from a week in Florida, striving to improve not only my own powers of concentration and focus, but how to grab and maintain the attention of readers and customers, for the last few days I have been thinking a little about Sphinn… some of those thoughts haven’t been pleasant, and to be perfectly honest, the good thoughts had very selfish motives.

BlogCatalog Updates

Blogcatalog announced on their blog yesterday some fairly major changes and I just spent an hour or so looking around to get a feel for what has changed.

The first thing I suggest you do is pop over to Blogcatalog and grab a free 7 day trial of their supporters service, so you can actually try out some of these new features (today may be the last day this is available)

Letting Other People Write The LinkBait

A lot of the things I write go completely over the head of many of my readers, and in some ways that is actually a concious decision which certainly costs me a much higher readership.

Exclusive: LinkedIn Kill LinkedIn Fast Widget Functionality

LinkedIn FastIt was good while it lasted, and provided needed functionality to LinkedIn, and was widely supported by open networkers on the social networking platform.

During a routine check of functionality I discovered that the “get” method of form completion which was used by the fast connection solution is now being blocked, and thus have made a notification post on the LinkedIn Answers service within “Using LinkedIn”, and have also changed the graphic that was being served to a number of sites to hopefully notify them of the change.

LinkedIn Invites – LinkedIn Fast Generator Improvements

Unfortunately LinkedIn decided to block this solution because it represented a security risk. There were other alternatives to make things secure, but they decided it was better not to have a free method of connecting with someone you know quickly.
It is assumed that this is nothing related with them wanting to charge money for premium services

Bumpzee Adds Amazing Feature – Autotagging

One of the many features that have been added to Bumpzee over the last few days is something I was really looking forward to.

Auto Tagging

This feature is important because all my content that is relevant is being automatically being posted to Bumpzee, no need to submit it.
But it would become a pain if I had to visit the site after every post I made on the blog to add tags.
Bumpzee Autotagging
Bumpzee is now automatically parsing each post for tags, such as rel=”tag” used for Technorati, and adding them automatically with each entry.

Hacking LinkedIn To Speed Up the Invite Process

LinkedIn as a concept is great, but the Invite process is fairly laborious. That is probably why I have 160+ MyBlogLog community members and at time of writing, only 10 connections in LinkedIn.

MyBlogLog Flaw

SoloSeo is in the news today for noting a flaw in MyBlogLog.
Techcrunch, and Andy Beal have had their say.

My opinion – this method of gaming MyBlogLog is useless and pointless. SoloSeo has gained some nice linkbait from the article, but very few new community members. It is a bit like Jason Calacanis and his gaming Alexa experiment. Sure it can be done, but what is really the point?

MyBlogLog Acquisition Coverage

It is interesting looking at the acquisition coverage for MyBlogLog.

First of all Techmeme gets it partially right, that one of the original sources for the sale was Forbes.

If you expand all the related coverage, it is a shame the announcement on the MyBlogLog Blog doesn’t seem to have been cited anywhere near as many times.

Long Sales Letters and Social Networking Clash

I just gave Brian a Digg on this, as it is a subject rarely discussed.

A thought provoking post by Brian addressing quite a major issue.
As the marketing world comes to terms with social networking, and social networks get invaded or enhanced by marketers there are many aspects that both sides have to address to come to some form of consensus and safe middle ground.

  • RAP Bank

I have just signed up for RAP Bank myself - call this a mini-review.
It seems to be one of the smartest ideas for a long time as a great way to consolidate 100s of affiliate programs under a single entity for promotion.

It is also one of the best implementations of WordPress I have ever seen.
It is not without its bugs, as this is effectively pre-launch. For example I just found a bug in the keyword based search RSS feeds (yes RSS feeds for any term will be hot), but it looks like they might be onto a winner.
Check it out - signup for the basic service is free.

    >Affiliate Program

P.S. It is not immediately obvious who is running the site, but looking at my Paypal receipt (yes I signed up for Vendor Plus) I believe the site is run by Bill Ortell From Rap-Extras.com who is RAP certified and does the membership add-on that is highly popular.
