Facebook In Polish – Renovated By Cowboys

For a number of months every time I log into Facebook (or at least it seemed that way) Facebook would add a call for help with translation into my news feed. I think most of my readers are aware that I live in Poland, though those details are not directly available to Facebook, unless they look at my phone number. Thus they are most likely targeting me with the message using some kind of IP delivery - looking at which country or region my IP address originates in, and as I use a Polish ISP, they sometimes give me information in Polish. How To Find FriendFeed Rooms With Google

I noticed within the new Problogger room on FriendFeed, Darren mentioned the following:-
“feel free to invite others to this room - as long as they are bloggers and/or are interested in the ProBlogger type topic I'm happy for anyone and everyone to join. I've invited all my contacts on FF. Pity there's no list of public groups for people to join.”
Whilst there isn't a public list, in many ways Google with a site search query these days provides a very real alternative.

Open Web Awards – Call for Nominations

Open Web AwardsThe Open Web Awards are now open for nominations until the 6th December, and this stage of the proceeding is quite open plan. The current 28 blogging partners (increasing daily) have been provided with a list of categories to accept nominations for, and it is down to each blog to decide how to proceed with collecting nominations, whether to make individual posts for each category, or to handle things from a single post. Voting will take place in a much more refined manner.
  1. Mainstream and Large Scale Networks
  2. Applications and Widgets
  3. Social News and Social Bookmarking
  4. Social Search
  5. Sports and Fitness
  6. Photo Sharing
  7. Video Sharing
  8. Start Pages
  9. Places and Events
  10. Music
  11. Social Shopping
  12. Mobile
  13. Niche and Miscellaneous Social Networks
As I loosely focus on niche marketing, with an emphasis on Wordpress, Blogging and SEO I am hoping that we can get some nominations for some of the more niche players.

Technorati Topics Announced & Bugs

Technorati have added a new "topics" feature to their front page and menus.

It updates live, in a similar way to Truemors.com and various widgets such as the one for Netscape.com

Topics are split between Entertainment, Technology, Politics, Sports, Business, and Life and apparently blogs have been selected based upon Technorati Authority, frequency of posting, use of relevant tags, links to related subject matter and general topicality.

In theory some of my content might appear within both the Technology and Business sections, but that remains to be seen.

Is Technorati Topics Useful?

In theory it is spam free but it is also elitist

Technorati Can’t Cope With Twitter, coComment, Blog Networks, and Blog Rolls

Technorati Logo

Technorati simply can’t cope with new forms of blogging and RSS feed generation. I am not talking about splogs, which seem to still be rampant, and reblogs, likewise, but totally legitimate alternative unique content sources that are effectively blogs.

Web 2.0 Marketing | Convergence

I love being the catalyst that encourages some level of convergence between different web 2.0 platforms. Actually this is the first time it has happened with web 2.0, but it has happened for me in other topic areas.

Alexa stats now lagging by 6 days

Lots of people snub Alexa for providing statistics that are easily gamed, or lack relevance for the global market. As an example Jason Calacanis was recently proposing to test different ways Alexa can be gamed..

  • RAP Bank

I have just signed up for RAP Bank myself - call this a mini-review.
It seems to be one of the smartest ideas for a long time as a great way to consolidate 100s of affiliate programs under a single entity for promotion.

It is also one of the best implementations of WordPress I have ever seen.
It is not without its bugs, as this is effectively pre-launch. For example I just found a bug in the keyword based search RSS feeds (yes RSS feeds for any term will be hot), but it looks like they might be onto a winner.
Check it out - signup for the basic service is free.

    >Affiliate Program

P.S. It is not immediately obvious who is running the site, but looking at my Paypal receipt (yes I signed up for Vendor Plus) I believe the site is run by Bill Ortell From Rap-Extras.com who is RAP certified and does the membership add-on that is highly popular.
