Top 5 SEO Tips That Will Bring More Tourists to Your Guest House

Search engine optimization (SEO) is one of the essential parts of your online marketing strategy. It helps you reach people who otherwise maybe never would’ve heard of your guesthouse before. And the best part is that you can do SEO on your website yourself. Here are some of the most important tips that will help bring more tourists to your guest house.

Make Your Website Mobile-Friendly

A lot of your visitors, if not the majority, will browse your website on their smartphones. Google is aware of how many users like to browse their smartphones nowadays, which is why they always favor websites optimized for mobile devices. Additionally, you should make sure to enable visitors a quick and easy way to book your guest house on the mobile version of your website.

Update Your Page Titles and Meta Descriptions

One of the simplest ways to start boosting your site’s SEO is to update your page titles and meta descriptions. If you’re not familiar with these terms, they mainly refer to what shows up in the search results when a page from a website gets displayed. Every page on your website has its unique title and meta description that is set automatically when you publish it.

However, you can manually update your page titles and meta descriptions to achieve higher rankings on search engines. Use them to naturally place the most relevant keywords that you want to rank for. Also, find out what the most common terms tourists search for online and incorporate them in your meta description.

Let’s take a look at an example. Say you own a guest house in Stellenbosch.

That’s likely the exact term that your potential customers could be using when they conduct their searches. So consider a title tag like:

“Guest House Name | Best Stellenbosch Guest House.”

And for your meta description, consider saying:

“Are you searching for the very best guest house in Stellenbosch? Our five-star guest house offers luxurious yet cozy home-away-from-home accommodation. Book now! ”

Remember – keep your title tags and meta descriptions succinct for your guest house, and make sure they give people an expectation of what to find when they click your link.

Write Guest Posts for Travel Blogs

If you have a guest house in a popular tourist area, you most likely know a lot about what visitors can see and do during their visit. Use your knowledge to write guest posts for travel blogs in exchange for a link to your website.

Optimize Your Website Speed

People are used to internet pages loading almost instantly and are likely to close a tab if a website doesn’t load within a few seconds. That’s why Google and other search engines use website speed as one of the main factors determining your ranking. It’s worth noting that Google can also detect if your visitors often leave your website before it fully loads, which can hurt your ranking.

Create Appealing Visual Content

Although well-written articles matter a lot in the travel industry, they’re not as appealing to users as visual content. People want to see what your guest house looks like, as well as the area surrounding it. With that being said, you should add alluring visual content to your website. Make sure also to optimize these images for search. Use descriptive language to name your images to boost your SEO. Another thing you can do is customize the “alt text” of your pictures. Namely, write a short description of what can be seen in the photo. Something as simple as customizing your photos’ “alt text” can have an incredibly positive effect on their ranking on Google Images.
